Founding of the textile manufacturer Leop. Krawinkel GmbH Co. KG in Bergneustadt. Over the following decades the company grows heavily, adapting new technologies and constantly feeding on new ideas.
Moritz Krawinkel introduces modern methods of manufacturing and separates living quarters from the actual production mill. 1870 Hydropowered machines start off the age of industrialization for Leop. Krawinkel.
The company is one of the biggest employers in the region, with three different locations and more than 1,000 workers.
Diversification of the company activities to reflect changes in the textil industry. Acquisition of a producer of advertizing lights, a stone quarry and a Ford garage.
The embroidery factory in Bergneustadt closes down. The company reorganizes as Krawinkel Holding.
The newly acquired company for advertizing lights is renamed to PWM & GmbH & Co. KG. Karl Adolf Krawinkel begins the development and serial production of electronic price displays for fuel stations.
Development of PWM Powerline, enabling the control of price displays utilizing existing electricity lines.
Introduction of the first LED message board, predecessor of today’s Profitboards. 2002 Founding of the daughter company PWM Inc. in Houston, Texas by Dr. Max Ferdinand Krawinkel.
